How To Make Broccoli Ham Cheese Pie

Broccoli ham cheese pie is a wonderful pie which is prepared with ham, an array of different cheese and broccoli florets. The dish is healthy and delicious and is also good enough to be served in small parties and get-togethers.

Required Appliances

1 9-inch pie plate

1 large mixing bowl

1 medium sized pot

1 food processor

1 rubber spatula




Required Ingredients

2 cups of all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons of water

5 ounces of butter, at room temperature

Juice of 1 lemon

1 cup of grated cheddar cheese

1 teaspoon of lemon zest

14 ounces of fresh or frozen broccoli florets, chopped into small pieces

1 cup of grated parmesan cheese

3 large cloves of garlic, minced

3 ounce + ½ ounce of ham slices, thinly sliced

4 large eggs, whisked

Salt, to taste

6-7 gouda cheese slices

2 shallots, finely diced

Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

3 ounces of milk, at room temperature


Method Of Cooking

1.    Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and prepare your pie pan by spraying cooking spray on it. After that, take the food processor and put the flour in the food processor. Process the flour for a few seconds and then add the butter to the flour. Again process the flour until it turns crumbly. Finally, add the water, lemon juice, grated cheddar cheese and the lemon zest to the dough. Process the flour mixture until everything is nicely combined. Once done, take out the dough from the food processor and knead it until it turns into a soft pastry.

2.    After that, take the pasty and place it on a hard surface. The using a rolling pin, roll out the pastry into a large disc. Then take the pastry disc and slowly wrap it nicely with a plastic cling film. Insert the pastry disc into the refrigerator and refrigerate it for 20-25 minutes.

3.    Once the time elapses, take out the pastry from the refrigerator and separate out 3/4th parts of it. Warp the remaining dough in the plastic film and retain it in the refrigerator for later use. Now take dough and place it over lightly floured surface. Using the rolling pin, roll out the dough into a 12-inch diameter disc. Once done, carefully transfer the pastry into the prepared pie pan and press it nicely to the bottom and sides of the pan. The sides of the pastry should stick out from the sides of the pan.




4.    Now place a pot filled with 3-4 cups of water on medium heat. Then put the chopped broccoli florets into the boiling water and cook the broccoli until tender and crisp. Once done, drain out the water and wash the broccoli florets in cold water. Then take the broccoli florets and arrange them over the pastry in the pie pan. Follow that by adding the ham slices and the Gouda cheese slices.

5.    Now take a mixing bowl and combine the shallots, garlic, salt, black pepper and the grated parmesan cheese in that and spread the whisked eggs on top of the mixture. Toss to mix everything nicely. Once done, pour the cheese and egg mixture over the broccoli and ham slices. Finally, take out the retained pastry and grate it over the egg mixture. Once done, transfer the pie into the preheated oven and bake for 60-70 minutes or until the pastry is golden and crisp.
